Location, location, location–the term never gets old because it never ceases to matter. Of course, it matters a lot to businesses looking for customers to look at them. But it’s no less important for homeowners. When it comes to buying a home, it makes all the difference in the world.

First, location obviously determines your proximity to needed services: schools, stores, churches, gas stations, hospitals and sports facilities. Consequently, it determines your home’s future value because proximity to all those things will make your home that much more attractive to everyone else, too.

Second, location means neighbors. If your home is located in an area where your neighbors care about their community, it will add tremendous value to your home and your life. Conversely, neighbors who clearly don’t care about their properties will be a huge drag on your property values.

Third, location comes into play when it comes to future growth. If you buy in a well-situated area, your home’s value will increase that much more than other areas that have had their day in the sun but are now giving way to Father Time.
