In case you’re still wondering how to add some last-minute holiday cheer to your home, consider the simple things—and lots of evergreen accents that will complement any décor.
Go natural. Start with Christmas trees, lots of them. Some you can festoon with ornaments, some leave bare—but making them a mainstay of your holiday decorations can add tasteful holiday charm to any room in your house. And with so many varieties available in natural, glass, ceramic and wooden designs, you can get very creative within the theme.
Text as art. With the holidays come carols and scriptures and inspirational sayings that can add beauty as well as joy to just about any room in your house. Whether it’s a long poem written out in script or a collection of framed holiday themes like “Joy” and “Peace” and “Love,” the ideas for letting words do the decorating are virtually endless.
Gifts as décor. Stand-alone decorative presents have a way of instantly saying, “Merry Christmas!” to anyone who enters the house. In fact, designer presents make just about any countertop, bookcase, dresser or end table a happier place. They can be done in any color, any arrangement, almost any size—just don’t get them mixed up with the real thing under the tree, or you may be in for some disappointed kids!
This is the season to go truly crazy with decorations, so if you think of it, do it. It’s Christmas!
